A silent, Zero-Emission and three times more energy efficient electric bus will transit on Monterrey’s Metro hub.
VEMO y Yutong had just begun their first test run for their fully electric bus in Monterrey’s Metro area with the purpose of evaluating their performance in real world conditions as part of a program that tested new tech for the Nuevo León’s Mobility and Accessibility Institute. Yutong has provided the high-performance unit.
With 39 ft long and a 90-passenger max capacity. The unit has a 120-mile autonomy.
VEMO collaborates in this test with their charging infrastructure and developing a Zero Emission Ecosystem (ZEE) management platform. This charging station will be in Barrio Antiguo and can fully charge the bus in 2.5 hours.
La estación de carga estará ubicada en las calles Barrio Antiguo y podrá recargar el autobús en 2.5 horas.
According to both companies, the driver will generate performance data in Monterrey’s specific conditions, distinguished by long paths and high temperatures.
A step to position the company in Nuevo León
This data will allow us to model the bus’ energy performance in the city and to simulate different routes and scenarios.
VEMO’s Commercial Director, Jorge Suárez stated that this test run marks the first step to position themselves as the ideal partner for Nuevo León towards their transition to electromobility.
“With this joint effort, VEMO consolidates as a source of electric solutions for public transport, adding a 360° view that coordinates operations, charging infrastructure, electric buses and the required management technology.”
On the other hand, Qi Baocang, Yutong Mexico’s CEO remarked that the company offers high-end, state-of-the-art technology for the Mexican market.
“With this Yutong E12 test we will prove our energy renewal techniques and a high-performance vehicle structure capable of resisting the highest demands. Electromobility requires a reliable partner such as Yutong to handle these long-term projects”. Baocang added.
