Porsche prepares another electric car: It’ll be their most expensive SUV, above their Macan y Cayenne.
Porsche confirmed their plans for a new electric SUV based on their Sport variant on the Scalable Systems Platform (SSP). This new SUV will be superior to their Macan and Cayenne, making it more expensive.
Porsche’s CEO, Oliver Blume announced on an interview with German newspaper Automobilwoche, that this SUV will be their new 100% electric flagship.
He added, “We plan to add a new luxury all-electric SUV model to our attractive portfolio. ”, while stating that production will be scheduled to start between 2025-2026 in the Leipzig plant.
Porsche Macan
Regarding Porsche Macan, Blume confirmed the delay of the electric model until 2024. This model was planned for release in 2023, however, Cariad (Volkswagen’s software subsidiary) is far behind on its development.
Porsche didn’t set a timeframe for this electric flagship SUV, but stated that the fully-electric Macan will be released first.
Lastly, they confirmed that they’re planning on an electric variant of their 718 sports cars Series (both convertible Boxter and Cayman Coupé) by 2025,
