Mobility company, Avanza; in collaboration with Zaragoza’s Council will lead Digizity, the largest PERTE’s I+D Project for a connected EV.
This Project will be worked with other five companies: IRIZAR, JEMA, HISPACOLD, TELNET, and IDNEO-FICOSA; and other three tech centers: ITAINNOVA, CTAG, and TECNALIA. This means an integration of the value chain in one the automotive segments: Bus transportation.
This way an Alliance between buses, motors, components, onboard systems, telecommunications equipment, and a large fleet operator will be born.
DIGIZITY is part of Zaragoza City Council’s integral model aimed at creating a zero-emissions city. A model that also promotes sustainable mobility, with the transition from private vehicles to public transport.
Through artificial intelligence, Zaragoza will be the first city to enjoy this project. Both nationally and internationally. To this end, it will test more than 50 products, systems, and subsystems, aimed at achieving cleaner, more efficient, and more comfortable public transport.
DIGIZITY’s Project has been financed by the EU during 2021’s tender “Sustainable Automotive Tech Program ” (PTAS in Spanish). A program in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan promoted by the Tech and Industrial Development Center (CDTI in Spanish).
The total Budget is more than 9 million Euros with a 5.4 million Euros public aid and a duration until December 31, 2023.
For Avanza, this innovative project means, as recognized by its CEO, “strengthening our commitment to build the mobility of the future through innovation projects such as DIGIZITY. A project that will help us to develop a more sustainable, safe, and connected mobility”.
“In addition, on behalf of Avanza, the other partners and the tech centers that are part of the consortium, we would like to thank the city of Zaragoza for the support they have given us from the beginning for the development of this cutting-edge project in urban mobility. We chose this city because of the firm commitment that its city council has always made to sustainable mobility and innovation”, he remarked.
Zaragoza, leading innovation thanks to Digizity
Zaragoza’s City Mayor, Jorge Azcón shared his enthusiasm about this project. “Zaragoza has become the test ground in future mobility tests. Also, for new technologies oriented to improve the environment. Not only that but for public services and its denizen’s quality of life.”
“We’re the standard on drone testing, sensorization, mobility apps, Zero Emission technologies, shared mobility, and last mile distribution. We’ve achieved that thanks to the collaboration of both private and public sectors.”
Because of that, the Mayor reaffirmed his “thanks to Avanza for its commitment to Zaragoza, and also to the set of companies and investigation centers that will collaborate on this fantastic project.”
