The route will cross 62 roads in the country’s capital, with a linear length of about 61 miles, with traffic in both directions.

Mexico City has growing mobility needs. To create more and better transportation for the Mexican capital, the governor has presented the project for the Licensed Corridor on División Del Norte.

Through the Official Gazette, the Secretary of Mobility (SEMOVI) stated which 62 roads will serve this corridor.

“We need to push the transformation of licensed public transport forward. We need to regulate private companies so they comply with standards previously established by the authority and ensure they work under clear and controlled policies, favoring efficiency, low emissions, accessibility, trustworthiness, and integration with other means of transportation,” the document added.

SEMOVI explained that a study regarding the balance between supply and demand is undergoing. Considering both directions, the linear longitude of this corridor is 61.2 miles. The main roads affected include División del Norte and Dr. José María Vértiz. Also, it will include: Eje 1 Sur; routes to Tlalpan, Las Pompas y Accuppa; Adolfo Ruíz Cortines; and the following avenues: Chapultepec, Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, Del Iman, and Santa Ursula.

HOW THESE NEW MEASURES WILL BE IMPLEMENTED

The publication in the Official Gazette specified that new measures will be implemented to improve the operation of the transport corridor, with the aim of providing greater benefits to users.

One of the measures will be to restrict the flow of private transportation vendors who provide services in the avenues stated above. Providers who don’t accredit their business or who opt-out the División del Norte Licensed Corridor Public Transport Service will not be able to participate.

“These restrictions will apply unless the routes don’t have the same origin-destination” the Gazette added.[JMGM1] 

Also, non-essential auxiliary equipment, services, and elements will be removed from the corridor.
